Note: Upon completion of both the MA degree and field experience, the graduate begins post-degree supervision toward full licensure. This must take place under a Board Approved Supervisor. Total is 4,000 post-degree hours that are counseling in nature including 1,800 hours of face to face clinical contact (requirement effective August 1, 2011). Supervision requirement is 200 hours of which 100 hours minimum must be individual supervision and 100 hours maximum group supervision.

The graduate takes the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) soon after finishing the MA degree. Contact the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) for information.
