Mary Cayan has been the owner of Art of Life Coaching and Consulting, a private coaching practice, since 1999. The focus of her practice is CEO's of non-profit organizations and artisans of all kinds. She also coaches individuals, consults and coaches with organizations, and conducts training sessions and seminars on topics related to coaching and personal transformation.

Mary often uses the visual and studio arts as a foundation for her clients' learning. That approach reflects her fifteen-year background as a touring docent at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and her experience with public art commissions with the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul .

From 2000 to the present, Mary has been under contract with the University of St. Thomas to coach participants in The Institute for Executive Director Leadership sponsored by The Center for Non-Profit Management.

The Co-Active coaching model in which she was trained is, says Mary, very much in alignment with the philosophical foundations of Adlerian Psychology and the Adler Graduate School 's Life Coaching series.

As an instructor in the Life Coaching classes, Mary brings six years of professional experience in both private and organizational coaching to the classroom, as well as more than twenty years of management and consulting experience with government and non-profit agencies. "I create a safe environment that invites students to fully explore and begin activating their passions," says Mary. "This allows them to acquire the tools and skill sets that enable them to create the same experience for their coaching clients."
