The Adler Graduate School programs are designed for working adults with responsibilities. They are especially designed so the student does not have to leave their employment to attend school.
The Adler Graduate School has a unique program format. We do not have semesters or quarters but rather one course per month. Each course is one month long offered in two different formats. Each course is two quarter credits for a total of twenty hours of attendance.
Courses are offered most commonly as one night per week and one saturday per month. For example, the student would have to attend four Tuesday evening sessions and one Saturday during a month's time if they choose a Tuesday class. Some courses are offered on one weekend -- Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Class times are as follows: Monday through Thursday, 6:15 to 9:30 PM, Friday nights, 6:00 to 10:00 PM, Saturdays, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Sundays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The weekend classes may be taken when the student may have a busy month at work or is taking a family vacation, thus leaving them most of the month free. By taking one class per month the program can be completed in twenty-six months. Those who wish to accelerate the program and have the time to do so may take two classes a month.
The second difference at the Adler Graduate School is the internship model. Again we wish to allow the student to continue working. Rather than waiting until the end of the program to begin a forty hour a week internship, students at Adler are required to intern three to five hours per week for their entire school career. Along with the ability to continue working, interning all the way through the program has two other main benefits. The student will be out in the field networking and meeting other professionals and learning of potential job opportunities on a continuous basis. Also, all classroom learning is immediately put to use in the field. Those who are already working in the field may do their internship at their workplace. All others will receive placement help. A total of 480 hours of internship must be completed for the degree and the license.
In summary, of the 64 credits required for graduation, 52 credits or 26 classes must be taken in conjunction with a 12 credit internship. This can be accomplished in any time period from 18 months to 5 years depending on the student's lifestyle. Please refer to the internship site page for a list of all current internship possibilities.
