About Jan Austad

As a Higher Education professional for nearly 25 years, Dr. Janica (Jan) Austad has held management (both in academic and academic support services), teaching and researchship positions in two year and four year educational institutions in the United States and in Canada. In her 15 years in academic leadership, Janica has functioned as Vice Chair for a Board of Directors, Academic Director for General Education, Director of Academic Advising and Academic Achievement Services, Associate Dean for Liberal Arts and STEM and Program Chair for Undergraduate Psychology and Criminal Justice programs (including Licensure for Alcohol and Drug Counseling) and Master of Science in Human Services.  Throughout her career, Janica’s focus has been on enhancing the student experience; developing academic and academic support programs and services to guide students to reach their academic goals.  In addition, she has developed college-wide platforms to enrich the teaching and learning environment from onboarding effective student-centric practices to introducing faculty mentoring and orientation programs to assist new faculty to acclimate to a college’s culture. Janica has most recently taught courses in Undergraduate Psychology and Graduate courses in Clinical Mental Health and Public Administration
