Home ›A Strengths-Based Approach to Counseling At-Risk Youth
Homelessness has frequently been a major topic in the headlines these days. What many do not understand is that adolescents make up a large portion of the nation‘s homeless population. Homeless, runaway, and throwaway youth are at-risk. This paper will examine what it means to be a youth at-risk, how a youth may become at-risk, and the major risks youth face. The application of a strength based theoretical approach as viewed through an Adlerian lens is demonstrated to be useful when working with this vulnerable faction.
