The Adlerian Jesus

Two millennia before the teachings of Alfred Adler, one man was traveling from village to village addressing the mental health needs of his community, this man was Jesus. His holistic and individual approach to each person enabled Jesus to become known as one of history‘s most recognizable healers. By understanding the difference between disease and illness and how they interacted in the physical and social context, Jesus interfaced with both of these realms to promote healing. Also by looking at the environmental stressors of ancient Judea and the illnesses Jesus encountered, one can begin understand his impact. In essence, Jesus was an Adlerian therapist providing his community with a holistic approach to healing that continues to influence people today.
