AGS Master's Weekend (Sept. 28-29)

Registration Form
Event Program
Volunteers Needed

Save the dates -- Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29.

On September 28 and 29, the Adler Graduate School’s (AGS) Student Association and AGS will host an Adlerian Masters Weekend.  Over the course of two days, a number of Adlerian Masters will share their unique expertise as it concerns Adlerian Psychology and its clinical applications.  This gathering will occur at AGS’ new location and promises to be a unique event in the 40 year history of the School.

Students, alumni, faculty, staff and community partners alike are all invited to one or both days.  Lunches and CEUs (up to 16 credits) will be provided.  Virtually all of the speakers assembled will be contributing their time and, thus, admission fees will be very low – and primarily meant to cover the costs of lunches, refreshments and the reception at the end of the two-day event. Admission fees will range from approximately $20 (one day) and $30 (two days) for students to $30 (one day) and $50 (two days) for the general public.  Volunteers will not be charged.

The Adlerian Masters Weekend was conceived of as a way of bringing persons interested in Adlerian Psychology together, exposing them to some of the most knowledgeable and experienced Adlerian clinicians in the world and, ultimately, building upon the rich traditions of Adlerian Psychology and our Adlerian community, in general.  Every person interested in Adlerian Psychology will benefit from the opportunity to experience the speakers who have been assembled.  They are important figures in Adlerian Psychology and vital components of the traditions and history of the Adler Graduate School.

Dr. Harold Mosak will serve as keynote presenter on both Friday and Saturday.  He will speak for two and one half hours each day.  Dr. Mel Markowskie, current President of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology, will also be presenting.

Here is a tentative schedule for September 28 and 29 – all activities will occur at the Adler Graduate School, located at 1550 East 78th Street, across 494 from the Mall of America.

  • Concurrent sessions will be held – both days – between 9 and 10:15 and between 10:30 and 11:45 – these sessions will feature eight speakers – Roger Ballou, John Reardon, Sue Brokaw, Herb Laube, Dan Zenga, Tom Wright, Bob Willhite and Jeff Lupient.
  • From 12 to 1 on Friday, we will be honoring the memory of Bob Bartholow over lunch and from 12 to 1 on Saturday, Mim Pew will share her memories of the Adlerian movement and its beginnings, also over lunch.
  • From 1:15 to 2:15 on Friday, we will introduce attendees to AGS’ capital campaign project – not in a solicitous manner, but only to generate enthusiasm for our educational and community-oriented goals.  From 1:15 to 2:15 on Saturday, Dr. Markowskie will speak on the subject of “Adler’s Law of the Low Doorway: Movement, Challenges & Possibilities”.
  • Between 2:30 and 5, on both days, Dr. Mosak will speak on the subjects of “Depression” and “Early Recollections”, respectively.
  • Between 5 and 6 on Saturday, a reception will be held for Dr. Mosak, Adlerian Masters Weekend speakers and persons attending one or both days.

Everyone associated with the Adler Graduate School is looking forward to the Adlerian Masters Weekend with great enthusiasm.  We sincerely hope to see as many of our students, alumni, faculty, staff and community partners as possible.  It promises to be an historic event.
