About Michelle Doerr

Michelle Doerr is a coach, consultant, trainer, and author with over 25 years of experience in conservation. She focuses on helping individuals and organizations foster greater connection, encouragement, and thriving by integrating Adlerian psychology, environmental identity, and nature-based approaches. Michelle is an adjunct faculty member at Adler Graduate School, co-teaching courses on nature in counseling and ecowellness topics. She is also a national faculty member for the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, specializing in leadership development, capacity building, emotional inclusion, cultural humility, and nature connection. Michelle’s work weaves together the human relationship with nature and each other, emphasizing healing, belonging, and systemic transformation across disciplines. 

Michelle’s creative work explores the intersections of environmental identity, emotional inclusion, and regenerative leadership. She is currently working on research on Exploring Environmental Identity through Organic Inquiry and Community Connection. She has written several wellness-related articles for The Wildlife Professional magazine. Michelle will also present at the North American Society for Adlerian Psychology (NASAP) conference on integrating an Outdoor or Ecological Life Task within Adlerian theory, expanding on the vital connection between nature and human well-being.  

She also co-authored Grapevine: A Mother and Daughter’s Tangled Journey Through an Eating Disorder, which includes an Adlerian-based turning point and highlights the role of the human-animal bond in healing. She is currently developing Wild Truths and Wellness in the Wild, forthcoming books challenging conservation’s cultural norms and advocating for a spirit-centered, thriving future for both people and the planet. Through her writing, teaching, and facilitation, Michelle seeks to transform how we connect with nature, each other, and ourselves.
